Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Boise ID
255 AM MDT Sat Jun 7 2025
.SHORT TERM...Today through Monday night...High pressure aloft
will build onshore over the weekend, the center reaching SW
Oregon by Sunday afternoon then the ID/OR border by Monday.
Temperatures will warm in response, 5-8 degrees from yesterday
with another 2 to 5 degrees on both Sunday and Monday. This will
put lower elevations in the lower 90s today, and mid-upper 90s
for Sun/Mon. While some sites could challenge record highs
Sun/Mon, heat impacts are forecast to remain below thresholds
for any hazard products. It`s dry through Sunday, though still
looking at a low chance (10%) of a shower or thunderstorm over
the eastern Boise Mtns Sunday afternoon/evening. As the ridge
axis shifts east, instability and increasing mid-level moisture
will support a 10-20% chance of showers over Harney and
southern Malheur counties Monday evening.
.LONG TERM...Tuesday through Saturday...The upper level ridge
holds on for a little bit longer Tuesday morning. By Tuesday
afternoon, the flow aloft becomes southwesterly ahead of the
first of multiple shortwaves to impact the region. This
shortwave brings with it chances of showers and thunderstorms
area wide Tuesday afternoon/evening. Precipitation chances hold
on through Wednesday with chances of showers and thunderstorms
again Wednesday afternoon, mainly in southwestern Idaho.
Thursday looks to be dry as the shortwave vacates our area to
the east. Beyond Thursday, our area sits under southwestern flow
aloft as a trough digs down off the West Coast. This southwest
flow and shortwaves embedded within it will maintain unsettled
weather through Saturday, mainly over higher terrain.
Temperatures trend downward through Friday, with the biggest
jump being between Tuesday and Wednesday where high temperatures
drop by 5-10 degrees on Wednesday after being 15-20 degrees
above normal on Tuesday. Temperatures make it to near normal by
Friday before increasing to around 5 degrees above normal on
Saturday.

.AVIATION...VFR. Surface winds: Variable under 10kt overnight,
becoming W-NW 5-15 kt this afternoon. Winds aloft at 10kft MSL:
W-NW 10-15 kt
KBOI...VFR. Variable under 10 kt overnight. Becoming NW 8-12 kt
by Sun/18z.
Sunday Outlook...VFR. Increasing heat will result in high
density altitude, especially Sunday into Monday. Winds: W
through N 5 to 15 kt both surface and aloft.
